Step by Step instructions to diagnose your modem is installed properly

Unfortunately, providing instructions on fixing your modem is beyond the scope of this technical support. The following step by step instructions are only meant to identify if your modem is experiencing problems, at which time you should have a professional fix your computer.

    6. Normally, a window appears displaying responses from modem. See example below and notice how commands have responses in the white box. If you experience this, then your modem is installed properly and communicating with Windows. This does not rule out damage to the modem, but before swapping the modem, see what other possibilities exist to solve your problem.

If your computer says Port already open, then most likely another application is using your modem, such as a fax program. This could also be an indication of an improperly installed modem. Regardless, this is definitely a source of problems and should be fixed prior to attempting to use DialupAtCost service.
