Windows Installation Guide for SlipStream Web Accelerator

This section will assist you with the installation of the SlipStream Web Accelerator provided by DialupAtCost.

Important: The username for the web accelerator is different than your dialup username. You can find your SlipStream username on the Account Management page of your DialupAtCost account.

Requirements

Minimum System Requirements:

• Pentium 200MHz (or equivalent)
• 64MB RAM
• at least 11 MB of hard-drive space

SlipStream Web Accelerator is supported on the following Windows Operating Systems:

• Windows 98
• Windows ME (Millennium Edition)
• Windows 2000 Service Pack 4
• Windows XP
• Windows Vista™

SlipStream Web Accelerator works seamlessly with the following browser versions:

• Internet Explorer 5.0 and later
• Firefox 1.5 and later

Installation instructions

1. Click on URL provided to start download of SlipStream Web Accelerator: http://home.dialupatcost.ca/slipstream/SlipStream_6.0.32.0.exe

2. Open the downloaded SlipStream install file to start the installation wizard.

3. Click on Next button to continue.

   

4. If previous SlipStream software has been installed, you will be asked to uninstall old SlipStream software. Click OK to continue.

   
   

5. Accept the License Agreement by placing a check in the box, then click on Next button to continue.

   

6. Accept the Destination Location, then click on Next button to continue.

   
   

7. Click on OK button to reboot your computer.

   

8. When SlipStream starts and if your computer has Firefox or Netscape installed as your Web browser, SlipStream Web Accelerator will ask you whether to integrate SlipStream with the browser. Click on OK button to continue.

   

9. The first time you launch the Web Accelerator, you will be promoted for a Username and Password. A special username is given for the dialup accelerator, which can be found on the Account Management page of your DialupAtCost account.

   

10. After logging into SlipStream Web Accelerator, an icon is placed in your system tray as shown below.

    

11. Your internet is now accelerated.

    • Browse the Web as you normally would.

    • When finished, simply close your Web browser (as you normally would) and SlipStream Web Accelerator will remain idle in your system tray.

    • If you want to stop SlipStream Web Accelerator after browsing, select Stop SlipStream from the pop-up menu. If you wish to exit the SlipStream Web Accelerator completely, click Exit from the pop-up menu. The pop-up menu can be accessed by clicking on the icon located in the system tray.
